Earlier this fall, RSYO string students came together with composition students from VCUarts Music for an evening of score-reading fun. On stage at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, RSYO read through original works by Myles Black, Jason Leung, Aniyah Ricks, and Austin Sellick, students of composition professor Filipe LeitΓ£o.Β Adylis, composed by Jason Leung, was selected to be premiered at RSYOβs November 12 concert, alongside works by J.S. Bach, William Grant Still, Benjamin Britten, and a second world premiere: a commissioned arrangement of the folk songΒ Shenandoah, prepared by composer Christopher Farrell.
