Dana McComb
About Dana
Canadian-born cellist Dana McComb is a seasoned performer, educator, and arts leader with over 30 years of experience. She has performed across North America with ensembles including the Richmond Symphony, Toronto Symphony, and Winnipeg Symphony, and was featured in the Richmond Ballet’s world premiere of Chasing Cello.
Ms. McComb holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory and an Associate Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She has participated in leading festivals such as Banff, Kneisel Hall, and Meadowmount, and won top prize in Chamber Music at the Canadian Music Competition.
A dedicated teacher, she is on faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University and leads the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Honors Program. In addition, she serves as Managing Director of the Belvedere Series.
Ms. McComb maintains a vibrant private studio in Richmond, VA, where many of her students have earned recognition at the state, regional, and national levels of the MTNA competition. Her educational initiatives—including the long-running Cellopalooza and Theory is Fun RVA—reflect her commitment to inclusive and creative music education.
